The general definition is when someone tries to directly route
mail through a SMTP server from a machine not on the same site or
network as the SMTP server to another machine not on the same site
or network as the SMTP server or the originating address. This has
become a preferred practice for e-mail spammers and e-mail system
attackers for hiding their tracks.Are
Companies allowed to Relay on OMANTEL Mail Server?
Exceptions are given only to Registered Commercial Companies in
Oman and not personal use for a monthly fee
of R.O. 15/- billed to your user name account. The
information required to setup Relay on your account is to provide
the following:
- Domain
Name
Example: http://www.yourcompany.com
What
do I use as a POP3 and SMTP server?
The address of Incoming mail pop.yourcompany.com
The address of outgoing mail backmail.omantel.net.om
Note:
This method will work only if relay is setup on our mail
server for a specific domain.
How
do I change my settings?
Follow
the instructions on the image to fix the problem if you have
problem sending mail messages...And you get the message Relaying
Not Allowed.
- The
message must have a destination address
- The
message must originate from a host in the "omantel.net.om"
domain. This means if you have an E-mail Address: something
different than username@omantel.net.om then your
message will not go.
Here

get to this screen in Netscape Messenger do the
following:
- Start
Netscape Messenger
- click
on Edit
- click
on references
- click
on the right plus sign of Mail& Newsgroups
- click
Identify
- follow
