What is relaying?
The general definition is when someone tries to directly route mail through a SMTP server from a machine not on the same site or network as the SMTP server to another machine not on the same site or network as the SMTP server or the originating address. This has become a preferred practice for e-mail spammers and e-mail system attackers for hiding their tracks.

Are Companies allowed to Relay on OMANTEL Mail Server?
Exceptions are given only to Registered Commercial Companies in Oman and not personal use for a monthly fee of R.O. 15/- billed to your user name account. The information required to setup Relay on your account is to provide the following:
- Domain Name
Example: http://www.yourcompany.com

What do I use as a POP3 and SMTP server?
The address of Incoming mail pop.yourcompany.com
The address of outgoing mail backmail.omantel.net.om

Note:
This method will work only if relay is setup on our mail server for a specific domain.

How do I change my settings?
Follow the instructions on the image to fix the problem if you have problem sending mail messages...And you get the message Relaying Not Allowed.

  • The message must have a destination address
  • The message must originate from a host in the "omantel.net.om" domain. This means if you have an E-mail Address: something different than username@omantel.net.om then your message will not go.
