Instructions on Using Delegated Administrator
 
   The purpose of using delegated administrator is to allow the assigned domain administrator for your domain to administer the mail accounts which includes:
  • Creating, modify or deleting emails.
  • Changing password.
  • Assigning certain facilities to users such as mailing lists.

LOGGING IN AS DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR
 

To login, go to the following URL: http://ida.omantel.net.om. Figure-1 will appear. OmanTel will supply you with domain administrator username and password, use them to login.

Once you have logged the screen in Figure-2 will appear. Through this page you will be able to administer your domain email accounts

 
CREATING AN ACCOUNT
 

To create an account, click on the New User link (Figure-3 ).

The screen in (Figure-4) will appear. Fill in the mandatory details (marked with asterisks). The email address should be written in the following manner ( username@yourdomain.) . Don't click on OK yet. Read the next step.

On the side bar, click on the Enable Additional Services item. The screen will change to reflect the following (Figure-5), click on the box next to Mail in order to enable email service for that particular user. Then click on the OK button below.

A screen will pop-up confirming that the user has been created successfully. See Figure-6

 
LOGGING IN TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL
 

To check your email through Webmail, go to the following url: http://webmail.yourdomain.om. The following screen will appear. To login, enter your username in the following format: yourusername@yourdomain and your password. The click on LOGIN. See Figure-7

To check your email through an email client. You need to make sure that:

  • Your outgoing mail server is set to: smtp.yourdomain.om
  • Your incoming mail server is set to: pop.yourdomain.om
  • Your username should be: yourusername@yourdomain
An example of such a setting is shown in Figure-8

 
CHECKING THE DOMAIN PROPERTIES
 

You can check on your domain properties by click on the General Properties tab in the main screen. Figure-9 will appear. You will be able to view the number of accounts you created and the account limit that has been assigned to your domain.

 
MODIFYING/DELETING USERS
 

You can at any time modify/delete users from your domain by simple finding the user from the user list on the main page or by searching for a specific user. You can then choose action (refer to Figure-10) to Edit or Delete that user.
